I'm about to lose my mind....

Is it me, or is Wisconsin State Assemblyman Peter Barca losing his damn mind?

I just saw video from the overnight legislative session in Madison with Barca going off in the Assembly chamber about a perceived "power grab" by Republicans.

Excuse me Representative Barca, but exactly what would you call what was done under the Doyle Administration by the Democrats?

What do I make of this?

Congressional district #9 in New York City has gone red. The questions I have: 1. Would this district have stayed Democrat if Weiner hadn't shown his weiner to women online? 2. Is this really a referendum on Obama? Possibly, given his policies on Israel and the demographic makeup of the district. 3. How conservative is Turner? Is he more like Ronald Reagan or Scott Brown?? Magic Eight Says: Ask again later.

Gadhafi's lair

The rebel's have made it all the way into Gadhafi's home, and what do they find? Riches beyond compare.

Is it any surprise that the ruling class loves to spend money on itself, while letting the underclass wallow?

young and stupid

The latest summer fun to be hit by youthful stupidity is the Wisconsin State Fair. Last night at the close of business, a high number of youths decided it would a good time to turn the Fair Midway and South 84th Street in West Allis into a UFC style cage match.

I could touch on many of the same topics my blogging brethren have already stated; black on white crime, thuggish behavior, etc.

However, the thought that's been on my mind all day is this: how much longer will this continue? The City of Milwaukee in the persons of Mayor Barrett and Police Chief Flynn have stated that police presence will be increased at the State Fair as well as any other weekend festival in the City.

That's great and all, but what's the cost?

Does this mean overtime for more foot patrols, or will other shifts be thinned out to accommodate the extra festival patrols?

This incident makes the second time this summer that a group of young people has run rampant; I realize on both occasions that the crowd grew quickly and seemingly without warning, but how do you stop this?

From most news reports, it appears to be a black on white issue; blacks youths were going after white fairgoers, while leaving black fairgoers alone. This doesn't help the image that Milwaukee is a racist, segregated city.

Will this discourage people from attending the fair? I know my wife and I are still going. We planned on attending on Saturday during the day anyway, and we saw no reason to change our plans. I will, however, be a little more cautious about what's going on around me while we are there.

split personality

Maureen Dowd nails it on Obama.

Indeed.

Guns Baby, Guns

Concealed carry has been enacted in Wisconsin, leaving Illinois as the only state to not allow concealed carry of a firearm.

I support this move as I think it will help lower crime rates by causing a potential criminal to think twice about engaging with a potential "victim" if that target may be armed.

And if it doesn't deter the criminal, perhaps starting down the barrel of a gun will.

when zombies attack

On Wednesday, some young folks decided it would be a good idea to dress up like zombies and disrupt a ceremony honoring Special Olympians.

The main idea they seem to be pushing is that "students are dead to Walker" and it appeared to revolve around Photo ID for voting.

Hey, geniuses, either absentee ballot vote in your home district, or officially move to the district you want to vote in. You don't have to act like it's Halloween to make your voice heard.

Sausage fest

Oh Congressman Weiner, did you *really* have to take some pictures of yourself and post them on the internet???

Seriously??

I hope that at some point this weekend, you take a moment and think of those who served this country and gave up their freedom so that you may have yours. I don't care what your political affiliation is, they died so you could think how you want, say what you want, and do what you want.

Many have died for liberty; the least we can do is say "thank you."

By now you've probably seen some form of media about the tornado devastation in Joplin, Missouri.

The situation there is well past FUBAR.

You can help, even if you don't leave your house.

So, about that rapture...

If you're reading this, you're still here as well, so I guess we didn't miss anything.

Global Warming my ass.

Drill, Baby, Drill

So, it would seem that President Obama may be seeing the light when it comes to domestic oil drilling...

The questions is: what took him so long???

Spinning wheel got to go 'round

With declining revenues in the gas tax due to people driving more fuel efficient cars, it appears the Obama administration is considering a mileage tax for cars to recoup the "missing" revenue.

So, let me get this straight: liberals want those of us who choose to own a car to have a fuel efficient car, then bitch about the fact that gas tax revenue goes down when people *do* buy fuel efficient cars?

Really??

I moved to a more fuel efficient car 3 years ago because I simply couldn't afford to fill my 1999 Explorer twice a week at $55 a crack. My Focus gets almost twice the mileage my Explorer did, and it's a nice car. I made the choice, based on my budget, to move to a smaller vehicle that still suited my driving needs.

But because I *chose* to live within my means and not sell my soul to pay for gas, I might *still* have to pay more for the privilege of driving, based on my mileage. My wife and I generally take my car when we go out, whether we go to the movies or to visit my family in Illinois. I already pay more for the privilege of driving due to the fact that I use more gas in my car to drive those miles; I don't feel I should be taxed *again* based on mileage driven, as I've already paid to use the roads I drive on with my gas taxes.

I'm tired of the government on all levels telling me they need more money all the time; I have to live within my income, government can learn to live within it's income as well.
